Course Description
This course is part one in our three part series on orthopedics documentation.
In
this course we are going to take a pretty deep dive into the subject of
orthopedics, as well as fractures, and we'll be discussing that chapter
of ICD 10 that deals with musculoskeletal and also with injuries.
Our objectives in this course are to look at some of the documentation that's needed in order to assign accurate codes.
When we have a condition, we were going to discuss needing the type, the acuity, all the manifestations, etiology, and complications to be coded for that condition.
We are also going to look at some combination codes and, how we can best use all of these codes together to capture complications and severity of illness.
And finally, we're going to look at both the MS DRG system and the APR DRG system. The systems have many differences but they have also some similarities that we're going to explore.
