Sepsis 3
Description
This is module number three for Sepsis, Other Acquired Infectious and Parasitic Diseases.
Coding conditions found in ICD-10 CM Chapter 1 require extensive ICD knowledge and coders can be met with some very complicated cases.
In this module we will review some of those complex cases and also spend some time looking at PCS coding in Chapter 1 for these complex patients.
Our objectives are to review some hierarchy of infectious disease DRGs.
We’re going to look at some specific diagnoses required for those DRGs.
We’re going to look at some codes that are non CC and MCC codes that impact APR-DRGs.
We’re going to review some PCS coding guidelines, and AHA coding clinic advice.
And throughout the session, we’re going to focus on validation for linking post-operative post-procedural infections and also sepsis DRGs for the accurate data in DRG assignment.
