Description
This is module number one for the obstetrics trimester neonatal newborn systems course. These are complex chapters in ICD-10, and we’ll be taking a pretty deep dive into these DRGs and their coding and documentation requirements.
Our objectives are to discuss items in Chapter 16 where we’re going to discuss obstetric coding as well as newborn coding in this module.
The thing about Obstetrics coding is that it’s really a language all its own. It’s very specialized and it does it takes a while to get used to the codes.
We’re going to look at the different kinds of information that have to be gathered and understood to accurately assign Chapter 16 codes.
We’re going to look at the CCs and MCCs in that chapter.
And we’re going to look at how do you completely and accurately code OB cases.
And then we’re going to turn and take a look at some of the newborn and the natal records and that CCS and MCCs and coding for those.
So, we’re going to do a pretty broad look and finish that review with some more PCS learning in our next webinar.
