This is module number three for orthopedic major joint procedures and DRGs. We’re going to take a pretty deep dive into these major joint DRGs. Our goal is that this will be really helpful for inpatient coders as well as new coders and including those coders that are trying to go from outpatient coding to inpatient coding.
Our objectives are to look at some of the terms necessary to capture major joint procedures.
We’re going to look at the impact and logic for both MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment.
We’ll also look at the official coding guidelines for these DRGs for PCS coding. We’re going to look at root operations, severity of illness and DRG assignment.
